I am always asking myself, 'Why do I do this to myself?". It may be when I am out running. Or riding the bike. Or waking up hungover from drinking too much beer. These are my (lame) stories.

Then I rode!

Wow. Today was quite possibly the best WCP ride yet. Lowell and I started at 7:15 with my second favorite loop followed by a BMX loop. I never lead - always try to ride sweep because I feel like I slow the guys down. But since it was just the two of us I agreed to lead on the BMX loop. So, of course, I had to push it extra hard so I didnt feel like a total wuss. Have I said how much I love that loop? Oh yeah. Like 4.2 trillion times. OK, sorry. I was stoked to not only nail both the hills but also to take the BMX hill without stopping or even really slowing. I am definitely becoming a better MTB rider. I am way more confident and learning to ride the right lines, handle the bike better and still working on gearing.

We made a detour to the parking lot to pick up Joe and headed back for more. Apparently someone lit a fire under Joe's ass this AM - dude was hammering. Holy cow. So I did my best to keep up - took first hill AND Joe's hill without stopping. Yay! Two more notches under my MTB belt. Did have to stop for one of the hills - middle hill I think. That bad boy has some large rocks at the bottom and I feel like I have to come at it just right and wasn't prepared. But still took it no problem.

The best part of the ride by far was the freaking ass hauling bonzai run we did down this super long hill. O.M.G. IT RULED!! Lowell was leading and Joe was sweeping so I had to keep a good pace. I usually slow WAY down on this guy. He is thin with some roots and rocks so you really have to watch your line. Also a couple jumps and one nice little drop. Today I blew through that shit like I was on fricking fire. WOW! My heart is starting to beat hard just thinking about it. What a trip!!!

Possibly the second best part of today's ride was strolling into the main entrance at work, literally covered head to toe in sweat, camo hat on, wet hair in a pony tail, legs caked with dirt down to my lower calf where it abruptly stopped when I took my socks off, stinky, huge smile on face expecting no one but front desk ladies to be there and there being probably 45 business people in suits standing there staring at me like I was a total freak.

Its funny (to me) and much to Charlie's chagrin but I really honestly believe that I look my best just like I looked this AM - covered in dirt, stinky, nasty tangled hair under a cheesy trucker hat. Well maybe I dont look my best but I most definitely feel my best - and isn't that what matters?

I stood in the shower at work after the amazing ride and great spin and just thought to myself 'I could not be happier than I am right now'. Ain't it great to be alive in Austin, TX my friend?

Carry on.

It's much better to be alive in Manitou, CO! Though I can't speak for our spin classes here, since I do my playing outside.

And by the way, next time I visit, I'm gonna kick your ass on the BMX loop.

Ass clown - we have had this discussion. You won't ride it with me. So it is not really a valid challenge. I can get you a bike. In fact, I will have my new bike by then so I will have an extra. And rock climbing in an indoor gym is an INDOOR ACTIVITY. Just sayin'

Wiley - I know! I actually planned to take a pic today since I have no MTB pics and had ridiculous socks on but I forgot!!! I will do it Sunday!

If you get me a bike, I'll beat you. Even if it's one of Coop's.

I would much rather climb at the Garden than the gym, even with the hottie who works inside. However, unlike you, I'm limited on time.
